Bird Watching

The rising water-levels of Lake Turkana attracted a number of bird-species around Eliye Springs. Beside of the majestic King of all, the Fish Eagle, you will not miss species of Kingfishers, Cormorants and Egrets, as well as Sunbirds, the noisy Go Away Bird and Nightjars. The really bird-paradise however is Central Island National Park.

The rich birdlife on Central Island includes at least 100 species with 50 European migrants, which pass by between March and May. With luck you will find thousands of Flamingos on the Flamingo Crater Lake. Birders should always consider a visit on Central Island.
